Traore 'signals' he's 'happy' at Wolves as Tottenham linger in the background with 'interested' Conte

Wolves manager Bruno Lage has hinted that Adama Traore has 'signalled' he is 'happy' at the club despite interest from Tottenham.

Traore's Wolves career seemed over earlier this year as he joined FC Barcelona on loan. The Spanish team beat Spurs to the signing.

The winger struggled to make an impact at Camp Nou and is now back at Wolves after Barcelona decided against signing him permanently.

He made 17 appearances, despite only starting in four La Liga appearances, for the Spanish side.

Traore scored his first goal for Wolves since January in Tuesday's 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Preston and Lage believes he is set up at Molineux.

He said, "You can see it by the way he trains and plays. I can see it every day.

"When I look back in January, it was an important moment. We accepted the decision to go to Barcelona because it's his team and now he's with us. I'm happy with him and the signals he has given me and in matches show that he is happy with us.

"We want players who can give us a different dynamic. We understand what he can bring us."

Earlier this week it was claimed Spurs manager Antonio Conte was still 'interested' in signing Traore.

The Spaniard is out of contract in 2023 so clubs have the option of a reduced fee this summer as Wolves are unable to demand a significant price tag.

Conte prefers to use a 3-5-2 formation and Traore would be a good option for Tottenham in this formation.

Spurs already have plenty of competition at right-back, with Djed Spence, Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty battling to start.

Wolves host Newcastle on Sunday and Chiquinho is sidelined with a long-term knee injury, but Lage is set to recall Jose Sa, Ruben Neves and Daniel Podence after the win over Preston.

Wolves, third from bottom, are winless in the Premier League after three games but, despite last week's 1-0 loss at Tottenham, Lage is happy with their displays.

He said: "It was a good week for us, two good performances, the signals are there. We don't have too much time to train and prepare but we are doing better. There are good signals in the last two games.”
