Spurs 'reach verbal deal' for £20m full-back as Paratici make 'one-time offer' for £41.8m target

Tottenham have 'reached a verbal agreement' to sign left-back Destiny Udogie, according to reports in Italy.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte reportedly 'personally recommended' the Udinese star to Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy, who moved quickly to secure a deal.

That's according to Calciomercato, who claim Spurs chiefs have decided to agree a £20m fee from Udinese.

Udogie scored five goals and three assists for the Serie A side last season, playing at both left-back and left-back - a versatility that probably appealed to Conte.

The report claims that the 19-year-old's representatives have been in contact with Paratic for over a month and that an agreement has now been reached with the Pozzo family, the owners of Udinese.

Inter Milan, Lazio, Roma and Manchester City have also reportedly been in the running to sign the Italy U21 international, while Brighton have also reportedly shown late interest as they seek to replace Marc Cucurella, destination from Chelsea.

Speaking last year, Udogie previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, saying: "I would love to leave [Italy], maybe England."

You could say it's his destiny...

Udogie is set to return to Udinese on loan as part of the deal and will join his Spurs team-mates next summer.

One of those team-mates could be Nicolo Zaniolo, as Paratici continues to press for a deal with the Roma star.

Reports have previously claimed they have made a £30m bid for the Italy international, despite Jose Mourinho's side wanting at least £41.8m.

But La Repubblica claim Spurs haven't given up hope and Paratici have made a 'one-off offer' for the teenager.

It is claimed that the Tottenham manager is ready to offload both Japhet Tanganga and Tanguy Ndombele - who would both be of interest to Mourinho - in a straight swap deal with no 'money on the scales'.

But Roma have reportedly rejected that offer, with Mourinho instead asking for Oliver Skipp in return, a proposal Spurs have already rejected.

There is clearly some leeway though with the clubs in talks over a transfer for Zaniolo, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, several Tottenham players invited the youngster to join at the weekend when Spurs faced the Roma in a friendly match in Haifa.< /p>

Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet (loan) and Djed Spence all arrived this summer as Paratici and Conte continue to work on newcomers to North London.
