National Basketball League (NBA) megastar Steph Curry looks set to introduce his own take on the Metaverse to the NBA's 650 million fans, filing for the "Curryverse" trademark on October 26.

If approved, the U.S.-based trademark application, filed by SC30 Inc., will grant the four-time NBA champion exclusive rights to "entertainment services, namely personal, virtual and metaverse appearances ".

According to the filing, the Curryverse will also provide "online gaming services in the form of virtual worlds", where players can earn fungible and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which can be bought or sold on a " online market".

The application also covers virtual apparel and goods, business and investment management services, charity fundraising services, and software as a service (SaaS) including software platforms for the design, promotion, sale and exchange of NFTs, among others.

While more specific details about the Curryverse have not been announced, the NBA star's metaverse is likely to get plenty of attention given his 47 million Instagram fans and 17.1 million followers on Twitter.

While the metaverse branding seems like a first for Curry, it's certainly not his first step into Web3.

In August 2021, Curry became a member of the NFT community for the first time after a $206,000 purchase from the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
