Stephen Curry lands $75 million equity grant from Under Armor

Stephen Curry has found his way to one of the greatest perks of life as an executive: the stock market of shares.

Under Armor Inc. recently named brand president Curry — and point guard for the Golden State Warriors - restricted stock units for 8,823,530 shares of its class C common stock.

The units were valued at $75 million when issued on Monday and were awarded to the WSC and the AC Family Revocable Trust, where Curry is both trustee and beneficiary.

Under Armor said the price was a "partial consideration" for Curry's recent contract, which allows him to continue to serve as a brand ambassador for the company while leading its signature product line.

The prize is awarded in two equal installments, in 2029 and 2034, linking at least part of the Curry's take on Under Armour's financial fortunes.

The Curry brand already offers footwear and apparel for basketball, training and football. golf. But now the brand is looking to expand, both in new and existing categories, encompassing basketball, golf, womenswear, youth and sportswear.

"If the last 10 years have shown me anything, it's that Under Armor and I can build great things together," Curry said in March. "It's about impacting athletes and creating products that work and resonate with them, and Under Armor does that best. In 2013, we bet on each other and I am ready to take this next step together. »
