Turkey: Paraglider crashes to the ground in horrific incident

A paraglider has died after falling to the ground at high speed after his parachute failed to open.

Shocking footage of the incident shows Cengiz Gultekin, 45, spinning uncontrollably after jumping from a height in the Turkish capital of Ankara on August 9.

An investigation into the circumstances and why the parachute did not open is about to be launched.

The thrill seeker can be seen falling through the air after his parachute failed to open about 70 feet, before hitting the ground.

Another video of the harrowing incident shows bystanders desperately trying to save the married father of two, but they were unsuccessful.

Mr. Gultekin worked as the principal of Ahmetli Çancılar İmam Hatip Secondary School before the tragic accident.

He leaves behind his wife, nine-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter.

According to reports, Mr. Gultekin had a paragliding accident three months ago in which he broke his ribs.
