Paul, who lived in New York for most of his life, took the photos from an open-door helicopter at almost three miles (15,000ft) - something he believes has never been done before over the Big Apple .

He told MailOnline Travel: "These images were created through a lot of planning. From idea to completion, it took two years I worked with my cinematographer Alex Geiger and an aerial film production helicopter company Together we climbed 15,000 feet above the ground to capture these images This was the first flight like this, and I'm so proud of the result.

'The plane was not pressurized so at 10,000 feet and above the pilot had to be under oxygen. We had the option of using O2, but decided against it, as we had experience flying at 13,000+ feet in Colorado over the Rockies.
