A Pez Smuggler's Story Revealed in 'The Pez Outlaw' Trailer

“No one knew where it came from…” “But everyone wanted what it was selling.” Gravitas Ventures has revealed an official trailer for The Pez Outlaw , a documentary film that premiered at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. Another incredible true story, this one about a Pez addict and his secret mission to get his hands on the golden ticket - a lot of golden tickets. "A speztacularly entertaining documentary." Steve Glew spent the 1990s smuggling rare pez dispensers into the United States from a factory in Eastern Europe, earning millions of dollars. It was all magic until his nemesis, "The Pezident" of American society, decided to destroy it. Steve becomes the hero of his own adventure, but as we know, all good things must come to an end. This also premiered at the Freep Film Festival and the Cleveland Film Festival this year, and will be released on VOD later in October for everyone to enjoy. Reminds me of the other weirder than fiction doc Finders Keepers, with some crazy big twists like this. You have to watch this - what a fun and crazy trailer.

This incredible fish-out-of-water story follows the adventures of small-town Michigan resident Steve Glew, who boards a plane bound for Eastern Europe shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. His mission is to locate a secret factory that holds the key to the most wanted and valuable Pez dispensers. If he succeeds, he will get his family out of debt and can finally quit his 25-year job. Steve becomes the hero of his own adventure, smuggling the rarest goods into the United States and earning millions in the process. It was all magic, until his nemesis, "The Pezident", decided to destroy it. The Pez Outlaw is co-directed by filmmakers Amy Bandlien Storkel & Bryan Storkel (also from the documentaries Holy Rollers: The True Story of Card Counting Christians and Fight Church previously). Co-produced by Dawn Bender, Norbert Blecha and Bo Butterworth. This originally premiered at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. Gravitas will release The Pez Outlaw documentary in select US theaters+ on VOD starting October 21, 2022 this fall. Who's in?
