TikTok's political dogs can breathe a sigh of relief: Tory minister Grant Shapps has confirmed he won't quit the app after the government banned its use on official devices.

Speaking to the platform after Thursday's announcement, Mr Shapps, who has more than 14,000 followers, posted an "I'm not leaving f***ing" meme so that he has pledged to continue using it on his home phone.

The Energy Secretary posted an excerpt from The Wolf of Wall Street in which Leonardo DiCaprio, portraying a stockbroker New Yorker, says "the show goes on".

He wrote, "I have never used TikTok on government devices and can hereby confirm that I will NOT be leaving TikTok anytime soon. early! #politics #news #foryoupage #FYP #trend #wolfofwallstreet #imnotleaving #tiktok."

Announcing the ban which was prompted by security fears over the Chinese-owned app, the Cabinet Minister Oliver Dowden has confirmed that it will not apply to ministers' personal devices and will only apply to government business devices.
