Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy insists on Japhet Tanganga transfer clause as exit looms

Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga is in talks to sign Besiktas on a season-long loan deal. The 24-year-old is set to move on and continue regular playing time for the coming season, although Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is keen to include a transfer clause which would see Tanganga leave north London permanently.

Eight teams were ready to retake Tanganga in January. Former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has stepped in to block his exit, with the Italian demanding a homegrown replacement of the same caliber to complete the season.

The Spurs youth product has managed just four Premier League appearances in the entire campaign. Despite a change of dugout, with Conte fired and Ange Postecoglou now at the helm, Tanganga is unlikely to be a regular starter once the competitive season begins.

Express Sport understands that Besiktas have launched transfer negotiations to sign Tanganga on a one-season loan.

While the Turkish team are keen to test Tanganga with minimal risk, Levy insists on a mandatory purchase option as part of the deal. Such a deal would see Besiktas sign the defender permanently at the end of his loan spell no matter what.

Tanganga, who is capped at Under-21 level with England, could be accessible for less than £10million. Atalanta have been linked with the Spurs ace but they are out of contention as Besiktas appear to have a clear run at this stage of the window.

One player who won't come to replace him, at least for now, is Victor Nelsson. Recent reports suggested that Galatasaray and Spurs have reached a swap deal for the Dane, with Sanchez heading the other way.

Express Sport understands the claims are off the mark and Tottenham are not currently engaged in talks for the 24-year-old, who has also been linked with Wolves and Arsenal over the summer.
