Unions postpone annual convention 'as a sign of respect' to Queen

Unions have postponed their annual convention" as a mark respect" following the Queen's death.

The conference - where unions were to rally support for industrial action to defend wages - was due to take place in Brighton on Sunday September 11-14.< / p>

But a spokesperson confirmed on Friday that it had been postponed "until later this fall".

The decision comes after some unions, including those representing railway workers, canceled strike days scheduled for this month.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU), Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) and Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) have all called off strikes since news broke of the monarch's death Thursday.

This year's TUC conference is one of the most high-profile in years due to increased industrial action by workers in recent months.
