West Ham are in talks with Sassuolo over a deal to sign Italy international striker Gianluca Scamacca.

The 23-year-old leader, who scored 16 times in 36 Serie A appearances last season, has been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks but the Ligue 1 champions haven't not yet found an agreement.

Now the Hammers are looking to hijack the deal after entering formal talks with the Italian squad as striker Armando Broja prepares to fly to the United States with Chelsea on their pre-tour -season next week.

David Moyes' side are willing to pay a total package of £40m (£34m upfront and an additional £6m in bonuses) to sign Scamacca, which would provide healthy competition to Michail Antonio in attack.

Sassuolo are looking for £45m to complete a deal with Inter Milan, who are also part of the coveted frontman's long list of keen clubs.

Attacking midfielder Giacomo Raspadori has also been mentioned in club-to-club talks with West Ham, but the Irons are currently prioritizing the signing of Jesse Lingard following his release from Manchester United.
