The cow who sang a song to the future Trailer

"There will always be things we can't explain." Kino Lorber has unveiled an official American trailer for a Chilean film with the exquisite title The cow that has sang a song in the Future. What a name for a movie! This first premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival last year, before hitting numerous other film festivals throughout 2022. It's slated for a minor theatrical release in the US from May. It's one of those very artistic cinematic creations that is indescribable, but we'll give it a try anyway. Cecilia goes to her father's farm after a heart attack. Returning to her childhood home, Cecilia encounters her long-dead mother whose presence brings to life a painful past punctuated by the natural world around them. "A lyrical rumination on family, nature, renewal and resurrection, The cow that sang a song in the future is an ambitious proposition of acceptance and healing, suggesting that the dead return when they are most needed.” With Mía Maestro, Enzo Ferrada, Benjamin Soto, Leonor Varela, Frédérique Gudelj and Laura del Río. Critics call it a "magical realistic eco-fable" that totally sounds like my jam. Keep an eye on that.

A Chorus of Creatures introduces a world delicately constructed of fantasy, mystery and magical realism in Francisca Alegría's poignant and breathtaking debut feature. It begins in a river in southern Chile where fish are dying due to pollution from a nearby factory. Amid their floating bodies, long-dead Magdalena (Mia Maestro) rises to the surface gasping for breath, bringing with her old wounds and a wave of family secrets. This shocking return throws her widowed husband into turmoil and prompts their daughter Cecilia (Leonor Varela) to return to the family dairy farm with her own children. Magdalena's presence reverberates through her family, eliciting peals of laughter and despair in equal measure from all but Cecilia's eldest child, who finds much-needed solace in the unconditional love and understanding of their great mother during a time of transition. La Cow Who Sang a Song Into the Future, also known as La Vaca Que Cantó Una Canción Hacia El Futuro in Spanish, is directed by Chilean filmmaker Francisca Alegria, making her feature film debut after many shorts before. The screenplay is by Francisca Alegria, Manuela Infante and Fernanda Urrejola. This originally premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival last year. Kino Lorber will debut the Chilean film in select US theaters (NY only) starting May 19, 2023.
