Vladimir Putin plans to turn Russia into a 'digital concentration camp' where people will be forced to wear 'QR-coded handcuffs', it has been claimed.

The vast majority of people would be "banned from leaving their own localities" if the plans materialize.

This is meant to coincide with the imposition of martial law and a new round of mobilization, General SVR said on the Telegram channel.

Most Russians would be banned from leaving the country, as they were in Soviet times when they needed the hated "exit visas" to go abroad.

It will rely on Covid brakes and rebuild a Soviet-style repression justified by the war in Ukraine, likely to be imposed in early 2023, according to the report.

The document stated: "With the introduction of martial law, all Russian citizens will be assigned colored QR codes, where red will mean a ban on leaving the locality where a person lives."

About 87% of Russians will be affected by this restriction, forcing them to stay in their own city or neighborhood.

A yellow QR code would mean a "ban" on leaving their area.

Others - including the elite - would have a green QR code meaning they could travel freely within Russia.
