Watch Quinta Brunson pause her acceptance speech after spotting Brad Pitt in the crowd

Quinta Brunson can make us laugh with or without a script. At the 2023 Golden Globes, the writer accepted the award for Best Television, Musical or Comedy Series for "Abbott Elementary," and naturally, she interrupted her acceptance speech to say hello to Brad Pitt in the audience. /p>

“Comedy is so important to me,” Brunson said after thanking some of his favorite comedians in the crowd. "Comedy brings people together. Comedy makes us all laugh alike. Hey, Brad Pitt," she said, visibly dazzled by the actor's presence in the audience. "He's right there," she chuckled. After sharing a laugh with the "Abbott Elementary" cast behind her, Brunson continued. "I'm going to pull myself together to say we're doing this show because we love comedy and we love television." She then thanked her showrunners, writers and cast before leaving the stage.

It was a big night for the cast of "Abbott Elementary". Brunson also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television, Musical or Comedy Series, and Tyler James Williams won Best Supporting Actor in a Musical, Comedy or Drama for her role as Gregory in the sitcom. “Abbott Elementary” airs its second season, which returned from winter break on January 4. If the hit series lands with as much heart and humor as the writer, producer, and actor talk, it's guaranteed to be a hit this season, too.
