'We should have won that game' - Klopp makes 'ridiculous' claim about Liverpool defeat at Man Utd

Jurgen Klopp has called his own claim that Liverpool should have beaten Manchester United 'ridiculous' after their 2-1 loss at Old Trafford.

Goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford gave the Red Devils a sizable lead, but a late goal from Liverpool striker Mo Salah gave Man Utd the final nine minutes plus stoppage time.< /p>

The defeat means Liverpool fall below their rivals after Klopp's side drew their opening two games against Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Liverpool boss Klopp is 'concerned' for his side as their injury problems mount, but feels they 'should have won' on Monday night against Man United.

Klopp told Sky Sports: "They were really aggressive at the start, it was clear what was going to happen. They were more aggressive than us and they hit the post very early. scored the goal and we took over and played the game we wanted to play, we were unlucky with situations against an opponent like United, it would have been useful to score and make it 1-1 at the half time.

"The second goal didn't help so it was a hectic game after our goal, definitely not the result we wanted.

"When we've calmed down, we have an extreme number of shots for an away game at United. we should use more of those moments, the second half David de Gea made a fantastic save. If you score, the game is running so we didn't have enough time or power at the end.

"When you're in a game like this these guys talk to each other and on the pitch it's a different conversation. It wasn't a perfect performance, it was clear United would come out of the blocks but we We weren't 100% ready.

"We had to keep going and that's not what you want to do. It makes it more difficult with their counter-attack threat. The second goal is hard to concede, it was offside , but you have to deal with it.

"We're in a tough injury situation, we've gone through the week with 14, 15 senior players available and now we have to make sure they don't get injured. We should have won this game, I know That sounds ridiculous but that's how I saw it.

"I'm concerned about our situation, but that's the way it is. We're preparing for Bournemouth and Newcastle now."
