What happens now that the Queen's funeral is over - day-to-day guide to politics

Liz Truss has made her first foreign visit as Prime Minister as politics comes back to life after the 10-day national mourning period.

Within hours of the Queen's funeral, the Tory leader flew to the United Nations General Assembly in New York - an event that will be dominated by the energy crisis and the war in Ukraine.< /p>

The Prime Minister is holding meetings with world leaders, including her first bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden after the Number 10 talks were canceled on Sunday.

She also faces an awkward encounter with Emmanuel Macron, after he suggested during the Tory leadership race that the 'jury is out' on whether the French president is a 'friend or foe' during the Conservative leadership race.

After returning to Britain, Ms Truss will only have hours to sign off on Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng's long-awaited mini-budget, which the new chancellor will present to the House of Commons on Friday.

He is expected to reverse April's National Insurance hike despite the fact that it will benefit the rich more than the poor, and scrap a planned corporation tax hike that will cost billions of pounds .

The Chancellor will also explain how the Treasury will fund the energy price cap - which is expected to cost around £100billion - after Ms Truss omitted the crucial detail when she unveiled the package hours before the death of the queen.
