Earlier today on June 7, Boris Johnson confirmed that he was stepping down as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

He is due to address the nation at 1 p.m., with Britain questioning whether he could replace him as the next prime minister.

In these worrying times, many choose to distract themselves from the headaches of politics with an adorable cat.

One cat in particular, Larry, the friendly feline who lives in Downing Street.

He's been there for years, long before Boris, and the nation hopes he'll be there long after.

During a Prime Minister's Question Time in 2016, David Cameron explained that Larry is a public servant and not the personal property of any particular individual.

He holds the title of Chief Mouser in the Cabinet Office and has been in residence since 15 February 2011.

He also has official duties, stating that he "spends his days welcoming guests to the house, inspecting security defenses and testing antique furniture for siesta quality.

"His day-to-day responsibilities also include considering a solution to the mouse occupation of the house. Larry says it's still "in the tactical planning stage".
