Will Davis: Leicestershire fast bowler signs new County contract

Will Davis celebrates taking a wicket for Leicestershire

The player of The 26-year-old, who signed his final one-season deal with the Foxes in January, is entering a fifth campaign at Uptonsteel County Ground next summer.

He has taken 77 wickets across formats for the Foxes since arriving from Derbyshire in September 2018.

"We know the skill and fighting levels he can bring all formats," said director of cricket Claude Henderson.

Davis said he was "trying to improve technically and tactically" to help a "hard working" team improve from last season - a campaign in which Leicestershire finished last in Division Two of the county championship winless.

They did, however, reach the knockout stages of the One-Da y Cup for the first time in 14 years.

"I aim to bring some rhythm back into my game and hope help the team win next year,” Davis said.

Davis keeps pace with his fellow bowlers Chris Wright and Matt Salisbury, all-rounder Wiaan Mulder and white-ball hitter Nick Welch to strike deals with the Foxes ahead of next summer.

Leicestershire begin their County Championship campaign against newly relegated Yorkshire in the first round of matches on Thursday April 6.
