12 Fantastic Things to Do in Savannah with Kids

Looking for things to do in Savannah with kids?

Savannah, GA is a beautiful city, and as much a romantic destination as it is for many, it's also a delight to visit with the family! I was lucky enough to live just up the road from Savannah for about three years, and we loved visiting every opportunity we could. The Georgian coast is breathtakingly beautiful and there are plenty of fun things to do in and around Savannah GA.

There are so many great things to do in Savannah with kids, here are some of my favorites!

Savannah Children's Museum

At the top of all things to do in Savannah with kids is the Savannah Children's Museum!

While we lived in Georgia, this was one of our top things to do in Savannah with kids! Not only is the Savannah Children's Museum a great learning experience for kids, but most of it is outdoors in the fresh air, making it the perfect place to visit in Savannah with kids during cold and flu season. There's a cute little maze for the kids, a dress-up area, a music exhibit, a climbing structure, an old wagon for storytimes and workshops, and it's all contained within the brick walls and the remaining archways of the former Central of Georgia Railroad Carpentry Shop.

They have regular festivals and workshops throughout the year, but do you know what my kids' favorite activity was the Savannah Children's Museum? Climb the giant grassy mound ahead!

Oatland Island Wildlife Center

The Oatland Island Wildlife Center is still one of Savannah's most popular things to do with the kids! Not only does this place include over 100 acres of beautiful coastal Georgia marshes, but there are a ton of fun creatures to see as you walk through this park. There are foxes, alligators, goats, owls, bobcats, donkeys, snakes, rabbits, deer and more.

There are educational exhibits in the visitor center and around the park, and they also host seasonal events throughout the year. What kid doesn't love seeing wildlife in person?

Tybee Island

Oh, Tybee Island… you really can't visit the Georgian coast without at least one visit to Tybee Island. This beautiful barrier island is about a 20-minute drive from downtown Savannah. Tybee Island might be considered an all-season Savannah activity, but honestly, you'll have a lot more fun if you visit in the summer!
