'Boris Johnson may still have the title of Prime Minister - but he has no authority'

Prime Minister Boris Johnson may try to stay in office but he will no longer be in power. Nobody can govern if he can't win the trust of half his Cabinet

It's time for the curtain to come down on Boris Johnson's devious and sullied time in Downing Street.

He may still have the title of Prime Minister, but he has none of the authority that comes with that position. This is a defunct administration led by a zombie prime minister.

Mr. Johnson may try to stay in office but he will no longer be in power.

No one can govern if he cannot earn the trust of half his cabinet.

Coherent government is impossible when ministers are able to extort demands from a weakened prime minister by dangling the threat of resignation.

Hanging on is not just supreme vanity, it's an insult to the country at a time when it cries out for competent government.

The exodus of talented ministers and aides has reduced the government benches to suckers, incompetents and eccentrics who would never get jobs under another ruler.

These Tory MPs who have finally found their morale deserve no credit. It was their misjudgment that allowed Johnson to become Prime Minister, even though it was patently obvious that he was unfit to govern.

They continued to support his chaotic premiership as he undermined the norms and structures that underpin our democracy.
