Fireworks warehouse in India ignites with explosions

A huge explosion at a fireworks warehouse in southern India wiped out hundreds of fish in a nearby lake.

The images show the huge explosion that caused a fire earlier this week, thankfully no one was injured. However, the powerful explosion caused significant property damage to many nearby buildings and killed many aquatic animals in Lake Bommanahalli.

"People were quickly rushed to safety and firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the flames," a local source said.

"After an effort of more than two hours, the flames were extinguished, although additional firefighters were required in this operation."

A month ago, nine people were killed and several injured in an explosion during another explosion at a fireworks warehouse in Kancheepuram district.

According to officials, the explosion occurred when workers were engaged in processes related to the manufacture and storage of the fireworks.

The building that housed the manufacturing and storage facility collapsed from the impact of the explosion.

This incident came a day after three people were seriously injured in a fire at a fireworks unit in Mahestala, South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal.

Fire Minister Sujit Basu said the three injured people, who were the son and daughter-in-law of the owner of the fireworks unit and a teenage girl from the neighborhood, were taken to the hospital in very critical condition.
