Mangoes set to be fruit of summer as prices fall
Farmers say mango prices fell last week due to an overlap in supply from major growing regions.

"Prices have probably come back to $10 a box over the past week," said grower John Nardi from Far North Queensland.
"The harvest was strong in all areas."
What caused the oversupply?< p class="_39n3n">The mango harvest has started earlier than expected for many growers in Far North Queensland due to a hot and wet spring .This coincided with the Northern Territory and Burdekin growing regions lagging in their seasons.
"The volume on the market is going to be stronger than we would like while northern Quebec ensland is usually separated by a few weeks from other regions,” said Nardi.

But this summer growers are hoping Australians will buy in bulk to help cope with the oversupply of F fruit flooding the market.

"These high numbers will then have an impact on prices."
Lowest prices in yearsMr. Nardi said the lower prices could be the nail in the coffin for many mango growers.
