New American trailer for the acclaimed French thriller "Full Time"

"Going back to work after so long won't be a problem?" Music Box Films has released the official US trailer for a French film titled Full Time , an excellent domestic thriller about a single mother struggling to keep her life together. This premiered at the 2021 Venice Film Festival, where it won the Venice Horizons award at the end of the festival. Laure Calamy stars as Julie - who finally gets an interview for a job where she can better raise her children only to come up against a nationwide public transport strike. The film takes place in "real time" over just a few days, following her as intensely as Uncut Gems, showing how hard it is to live. "Anchored by Calamy's powerful performance, Full Time is an impossible race against time and a kinetic thriller pieced together from the daily obstacles faced by working parents everywhere." It was one of my favorite films from Venice, I wrote a rave review of it at the festival and have been trying to get people to watch it ever since. Hopefully now that it opens in the US, others will give it a look! Definitely worth the trip.

Julie (Laure Calamy) can't take a break. For a single mother raising two children in the Parisian suburbs but working in the city, the commuter train is a lifeline – and it was suddenly cut during the last public transport strike. Without the train, Julie can't get to her job as head housekeeper at a five-star hotel - or upkeep for a better job than she planned. In desperation, Julie turns to her neighbors and her own brave ingenuity to get to town for work, barely returning in time to pick up her children before dinner. Worse still: it's only Monday. Julie is at her breaking point and soon finds herself bending the rules to stay afloat in an unforgiving society as her responsibilities pile up. Full-time, originally known under the name of Full time in French, is both written and directed by French filmmaker Éric Gravel, his second feature film after Crash Test Aglaé previously, as well as a few other shorts. This premiered at the 2021 Venice Film Festival (read our review) and opened in France in early 2022. Music Box Films will finally debut full-time in some US theaters starting February 3, 2023 this winter. For more details, visit their official website.
