2023: I have fears about the possible outcome of the elections - Jega
A former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, has raised concerns about current developments in the political space.
According to Jega, he has palpable fears about the outcome of the 2023 general election.
He said this during a speech at a colloquium organized by the Electoral Hub in Abuja on Wednesday.
Jega, however, expressed optimism about Nigeria's ability to overcome the current challenges.
"I have a lot of fears about the outcome of the election. But you will see that people like me are what I would call an incurable optimist about the future of our country.
“So I remain hopeful that despite the recklessness that we see, the vandalism that we see perpetrated by many of our so-called political leaders, we hope that people will mobilize and engage effectively in the electoral process, so that we have a good result in 2023,” Jega said.
