BREAKING: I did not hold any meetings with the G-5 PDP governors in London – Tinubu

Contrary to media reports, All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu said on Saturday that he had not held any meetings with the five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors in London.< /p>

The former Governor of Lagos State has therefore warned those who write unsubstantiated articles and spread rumors about him to desist immediately.

He added, however, that he has the right to meet with any political actor or stakeholder who is important to his campaign and his plans for the country and who wishes to engage with him.

The G-5 forum led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is at odds with the party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Other G-5 members are: Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Samuel Ortom (Benue).

The group, also known as the Integrity Group, has insisted that it will not support Atiku unless party chairman Iyorchia Ayu is removed from office.

But Tinubu, in a statement issued yesterday by his media office and signed by Mr. Tunde Rahman, said the media reporting of the alleged meeting was at best in bad faith but also malicious

He noted that he was resolutely focused on his campaign goals of achieving victory in the upcoming presidential election to implement the APC's action plan to bring renewed hope to our people in all facets of their lives.< /p>

The APC Presidential candidate was adamant that he was neither embarrassed by these articles nor by their well-known sponsors.

Tinubu said the truth about his current itinerary was that he came to London on Boxing Day, Monday, December 26, 2022, to spend a few days in preparation for his trip to Saudi Arabia.

He explained that after spending some time in London, he has now traveled to Makkah where he currently observes Umrah

Tinubu said, "As usual with him when a year draws to a close to take time out of his busy schedule, take some rest and travel to Saudi Arabia to observe Umrah (Small Hajj), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was in London during the week en route to Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

"While in the UK, Asiwaju Tinubu noted articles in some national newspapers in Nigeria alleging that a secret meeting had taken place in London between him and the G-5 governors who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party.

“These reports, to say the least, are not only in bad faith, but also ill-intentioned. They were published to advance the political interests of the writers and their sponsors.”< /p>

He added: "But we must stress that the APC candidate has the right to meet with any political actor or stakeholder who is important to his campaign and plans for the country and who wishes to engage with him. ."

The former governor of Lagos State said he is expected to return to the country within the next two days to continue the campaign.
