If one's idea of glamor is conventional beauty, the intention of 'Alfredo Cortese for Spring was to challenge that perception.< /p>
He borrowed drama from high fashion to evoke a dark hue, by his own admission "almost dystopian, ” look — and sexy too.
Cue the spectacular strapless dresses with voluminous bottoms, rhinestone-covered microskirts and tops, miniskirts with a bow appliqué at the back and midi in crystal mesh.
They caught the public's attention without necessarily being the best pieces in the collection.
They were followed by lace and transparent numbers, Cortese's signature and more territory appropriate for him. He suggested references to bondage in the use of silk midi skirts, oversized tunics and trench coats in trimmed lace and used the same fabric for overtly sexy bras (were they nipple patches?) worn on transparent bias-cut skirts.
Boxy blazers worn with a bare torso over cargo pants, backless jersey dresses with cutouts to the hips and see-through flowing dresses, hit the high notes of the range.
