Shior listed affected LGAs including Makurdi, Guma, Vandeikya, Otukpo, Katsina-Ala, Apa, Agatu, Tarka, Gboko, Gwer-West and Logo.

He also observed that Agatu LGA is the most affected by the incident, pointing out that the state government has made arrangements to distribute relief materials to the affected LGAs, starting with Makurdi and Agatu LGA.

Statistics released by SEMA also indicated that 12,856 households were affected; 4,411 houses were lost/submerged; 14,040 farms were destroyed by the floods.

"We want to start with Agatu LGA as it is one of the hardest hit and without appearing immodest much of Agatu has been submerged. Most residents have left their homes and are on the highway It is important that we respond to them promptly.

"I contacted the president of Agatu and we insisted on the need to evacuate the victims who occupy the highway and take them to a central place, and we think of Obagaji.

"We plan to group them together in one place to ensure their safety and to deal with them more effectively," Shior noted while speaking to the media.
