USA Star Lizzo wowed fans at a concert Tuesday in Washington DC when she took the stage to play a 200-year-old crystal flute, once owned by the former US President James Madison.

The trained singer and flautist was cleared by the Library of Congress to play the instrument, who arrived on stage with an escort policewoman.

Stage inspection, she said, "It's like playing in a wine glass."

She then played a few notes while simultaneously shaking her lower body.

"I just played James' flute Madison of the 1800s!" she beamed, after handing it back to a representative who put it back in its case.
