A mysterious knitter, known for creating mailbox decorations, says she is "truly honoured" to have her work featured on Coronation Street.

Syston Knitting Banxy has been making top hats for the Leicestershire town since spring 2019.

The patterns from the ITV soap opera thanked her for the "incredible" top hat that was used in her Christmas Day episode.

The knitter - who keeps her secret identity - said she had been a fan of the show for over 30 years.

The topper was placed on a mailbox outside the corner shop on the imaginary street of Weatherfield.

The display featured a knitted Santa Claus, mailbox, reindeer and presents.
