Youth pledge to provide 90% of votes to APC, Tinubu

As the 2023 general election gathers momentum, a youth group sympathizing with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Youth Peer-to-Peer (P2P), is committed to mobilizing and providing 90% of the total votes cast in the state to party candidates in the next election.

The group made the vow during the launch of the second phase of its campaign for Asiwaju presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima in Lagos. While speaking at the campaign titled 'Nigeria's Desire for Rebirth', President Stephen Akinruli said during the second phase the group will reach out to various stakeholders within and outside of the Party with the message of hope and rebirth of the greatness inherent in the presidency of Tinubu and Senator Shettima. According to him, the group, through its campaign, will project the potential of its directors as president and vice president to garner more votes than ever in the history of Nigeria in 2023. He therefore charged the chapter with the Lagos State Group to work with the APC leadership in the state and all other stakeholders to ensure a full victory for the party at the polls. APC national youth leader Dayo Israel praised the youth for identifying with the APC to ensure victory for the party's candidates in the upcoming elections.

Israel, which was represented by its acting chief of staff, Adekunle Adebanjo, said the party and its candidates recognize the role of young people in nation-building and have drawn up manifestos to ensure young people benefit from its project and its programs. He said, “I commend the group for their passion for youth empowerment through capacity building and socio-economic mobilization.

“Our party, the APC and its candidates recognize the role of young people in nation building and have developed manifestos to ensure that young people benefit from its project and programs.” This has motivated the party to send myself and other members abroad to study their models of youth development.

"I assure you of a smooth working relationship between the office of the national youth leader of the party and all support groups, especially those whose primary focus is youth mobilization."

Earlier in his remarks, the Group's Managing Director Comrade Ismaeel Odulana said that the P2P, which started as a youth development initiative, has been providing support to needy youths across the country since 2014 .

"Young people are the target of our strategic campaign and as the saying goes, charity starts at home, our goal is to improve the voter population in Lagos to a minimum of 80% through massive outreach and to the enlightenment of the electorate and also ensure that the APC achieves no less than 90% of the votes cast in Lagos State." Our support for Tinubu is based on the collective experience of the group in Lagos and other APC-controlled states, where youth engagement and participation has significantly improved governance and service delivery.” Director of Projects and Programs Bamidele Ojo expressed his gratitude to the national youth leader of the APC for his constant support for the group, while listing the various programs planned in his attempt to ensure the victory of all the candidates of the APC in the next elections.The new coordinator of the Group in Lagos State, Mr. Toyo if Bello was decorated with the P2P phase two campaign uniform for the 2023 elections.
