Sky Mavis announces $2.4 million esports grant for Axie Infinity

Sky Mavis today announced a $2.4 million esports grant to be paid into various tournaments and invites.

The first official grant winner is Method MetaGuild.

Sky Mavis' recent early access release of Axie Infinity: Origins, formerly known as Axie Infinity: Origin, provided a means to further develop and expand her esports initiatives.

The company will commit 160,000 AXS ($2.4 million) to be split between Q4 2022 and Q2 2023. To date, Axie Infinity has hosted 94 tournaments through its grant program, designed to help Axie's competitive scene to thrive by streaming AXS across multiple regions and skill levels.

The grant template will be divided as follows:

Major tournaments - will have the chance to win between $200,001 and $1,000,000 in prize pool.

Big events with substantial prize money, strong online qualifiers and a big physical presence with a LAN final.

Axie Mech Infinity.
Minor Tournaments – $50,001 – $200,000 prize pool.

Smaller scale events with less prize money, some online qualifiers and physical LAN finals in a smaller capacity.

Online Invitations and Leagues – $10,000 to $50,000 prize pool.

Purely online tournaments with no physical presence, such as leagues, cups and invitations that have some form of open qualification.

Local tournaments – $1,000 – $9,999 prize pool.

The game will offer regional and local amateur events for small organizers, exchanges and emerging regions.

In addition, Method MetaGuild has expanded into Axie Infinity esports, while continuing to build on its core values to create exciting new ways to engage its community, celebrate competitive success, and maximize the potential of gamers and creators around the world. As the first recipient of the third Axie Infinity esports grant, Method MetaGuild will host online and LAN competitions with a total prize pool of $160,000.
