British holidaymakers are warned against forgetting a small detail in their passport as it could jeopardize their trip.

It is essential that Britons check the date of expiry of their passport before travelling, as many countries will only grant entry to visitors if there is a certain amount of time – sometimes up to six months – left on their passport.

The says: "A lot of people pack their bags for a vacation or a business trip just by glancing at the date of their passport has expired, but if it is about to expire you may be refused entry.'

Not only that, but the Office of Passports notes that when traveling to the EU, a ten-year UK passport is only valid on entry for exactly ten years after the date of issue, regardless of the expiry date.
