People will be left homeless this winter without more help pay skyrocketing energy bills, Tory MP has warned.

Rishi Sunak supporter Kevin Hollinrake says without extra support there will be people" on the street".

He told Sky The News that Liz Truss' promises to cut taxes would provide just an "extra pound a week" to the poorest households, while giving in same time about £30 a week to those like his.

"It's just not right," he said.

"These people are going to be in the street. Things are going to be so bad for some households."

His comments came then that the boss of a major electricity and gas supplier has demanded that the next Prime Minister be installed immediately so that they can seize the crisis in energy prices "for the good of the nation". Utilita chief Bill Bullen said consumers "can't wait" for September 5.
