Vladimir Putin may not be able to use most Russian nuclear weapons and Ukrainian forces may attempt another attack on the Crimean Bridge, according to reports from a high-level Kremlin security meeting.

Insiders believe the Russian president may have problems deploying 87% of the country's nuclear missiles.

The West fears it could unleash a horrific nuclear attack on Ukraine, or even NATO countries, by helping the war-torn country defend itself against invasion by shipping weapons and material in the region.

However, claims made today indicate that much of Russia's deadly nuclear arsenal may be unusable and just "nuclear waste".

This comes as he was told that Russia may not be able to hold Crimea and parts of Donetsk if the Crimean Bridge is attacked again.

This would stop the flow of weapons and supplies to the disputed territory where heavy fighting has taken place.

It has been suggested that the strategically important bridge could be "completely disabled" within the next two months by Ukrainian forces who planned to remove two other pillars supporting the $3.7bn (£3bn) structure sterling) between the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed in 2014, and southern Russia.

The longest bridge in Europe was an important supply route for troops, fuel, weapons and supplies for Russian forces fighting in the Donbass.

Russia hoped to complete repairs to the damaged Kerch Bridge by July next year, after it was damaged in an explosion in October.

The Kremlin blamed Ukraine and its Western allies for the explosion, but Kyiv did not claim responsibility.
