Donald Trump says 'I'M BACK' as he posts on Facebook for the first time in 2 years after ban

Former US President Donald Trump has returned to Facebook, promoting his bid for president next year by sharing a video with the caption "I'M BACK!"

Donald Trump made his return to Facebook after being banned in 2021, telling his followers on the social media platform "I'M BACK!".

The disgraced former president was removed from major social media platforms following a far-right uprising on Capitol Hill where he praised violent rioters after losing to Joe Biden.

Meta, Facebook's parent company, made the decision to eject Trump from its platforms after he "praised those involved in the violence" and a number of other major platforms did as well.

Upon his return, Trump posted tonight: "I'M BACK!" while promoting his campaign for the presidency as he plans to run again in 2024, just hours after being fired on YouTube.

In the video, a clip of Trump from 2016 the night he was elected president is shown where he says, "Sorry to keep you waiting on complicated, complicated business…". The short clip then ends with a promotional image and slogan for his 2024 presidential campaign.

This all comes as a federal judge reportedly ruled that Donald Trump's lawyer must testify before a jury in the ongoing investigation into the businessman and, earlier today, YouTube has reinstated the businessman's channel after a similar two-year suspension.

When Meta ended Trump's suspension on January 25 this year, former British deputy prime minister turned global affairs meta-president Nick Clegg said new "safeguards" would be introduced to prevent recurrences.
