Sierra Leone FA investigate unlikely 95-0 and 91-1 scores for match-fixing

July 6 - The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) launches an investigation into match-fixing in a pair of matches which featured a whopping 187 goals, finishing 95-0 and 91-1 respectively - two of plus one- side margins in game history.

Players and officials who took part in both games are interviewed after Kahula Rangers beat Lumbenbu United 95-0, while Koquima Lebanon suffered a 91-1 annihilation by Gulf FC.

In a statement, the Sierra Leone FA said it had a "zero tolerance" policy against any match-fixing and said anyone involved would face the "full force of the law".

"Following recent reports of two 1st Division matches - Gulf FC v Koquima Lebanon and Lumbenbu United v Kahula Rangers - in the ongoing Eastern Regional Super 10 League, which apparently produced impractical results of 91-1 and 95-0 respectively, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) wishes to inform the general public that it has opened a formal investigation into the outcome of said matches,” a statement read.

“The general public is therefore assured that said matter will be thoroughly investigated and that anyone found guilty will face the full force of the law.”

Both games were all the more suspect as the halftime scores were only 2-0 and 7-1 respectively! Both matches have now been canceled due to suspicions of match manipulation.

SLFA chairman Thomas Daddy Brima told the BBC: 'We cannot sit idly by and see an embarrassing situation like this go unpunished. We will launch an immediate investigation and bring justice all responsible for this mediocrity.

"All culprits will be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the SLFA and will also be handed over to the country's anti-corruption commission."
