Spanish boss breaks silence on Luis Rubiales' nasty showdown after Jenni Hermoso's kiss

Spain coach Jorge Vilda has condemned RFEF president Luis Rubiales for his 'inappropriate behaviour' after kissing Jenni Hermoso the day after their World Cup triumph. Rubiales has stubbornly refused to step down despite widespread calls for his resignation, with accusations made over his conduct in Australia last week during the team's celebrations after beating England 1-0 in the final. p>

Hermoso released a statement on Friday, denying Rubiales' claim that the kiss was consensual. She also criticized the Spaniard for making remarks that were "categorically false and part of the manipulative culture he generated".

On Saturday afternoon, all 11 members of Vilda's coaching staff resigned in protest, saying they were forced to attend the aforementioned press conference at which Rubiales chanted sensationally that he would not resign.

Even though Vilda did not resign from her post, the World Cup-winning coach criticized Rubiales' behavior.

A statement read: "I deeply regret that the victory of Spanish women's football has been undermined by the inappropriate behavior of our leader so far, Luis Rubiales, which he himself has admitted.

"This is undoubtedly unacceptable and does not reflect at all the principles and values that I stand for in my life, in sport in general and in football in particular. I undoubtedly condemn any macho attitude, [which should be] far from an advanced and developed society.

In responding to the accusations made by Hermoso, the RFEF backed Rubiales by insisting that "the evidence is conclusive" that "the president did not lie". Instead of targeting Rubiales, the governing body has pledged to take legal action against Hermoso, who was part of the team that won the Women's World Cup last week.

However, FIFA have decided to provisionally suspend the 46-year-old after opening disciplinary proceedings against the RFEF supremo. And it looks like he's about to lose Vilda after finally breaking his silence about it.
