Billionaire's huge ship rocks at Leith docks as dozens injured and 21 hospitalized

A massive ship belonging to the estate of a billionaire co-founder of Microsoft has overturned on a dock in the UK, injuring dozens and 21 in hospital.

The ship became dislodged and fell on its side at Imperial Dock in Edinburgh around 8.35am, triggering a major emergency. Emergency services are dealing with multiple casualties and an air ambulance was spotted at the scene.

A total of 33 people were injured and 21 are in hospital, the Scottish Ambulance Service has confirmed. Twelve other people were treated on the spot.

Several crew members were initially reported missing, although Police Scotland have since confirmed that everyone has been found.

The local hospital urged people to stay away from A&E unless it was an emergency, and said its staff were on standby to see "acute patients " this afternoon.

One person was rushed to surgery after the incident, according to .

Jacquie Campbell, director of acute services at NHS Lothian, said staff were "reviewing current capacity" at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh and "waiting to welcome" patients from the boat.

Edinburgh City Council leader Cammy Day said there were around 50 people on board.

He feared "that there were a dozen people injured to some degree".

It had previously been reported that two crew members were missing.

A source told the: "This is an extremely worrying situation. It has been very windy since the early hours of this morning and normal operations have been suspended until conditions improve.
