Doctors treating a woman who complained of shortness of breath were stunned when scans revealed she had a massive 100-pound tumour.

The 45-year-old patient said she had no idea the lump in her abdomen was a tumor, assuming she had simply gained weight in recent years.

Because of the tumor, the woman – who was 4ft 9in and 330lbs – was unable to breathe, sit up or lie down, before eventually going to São José do Avaí Hospital in Brazil.

When questioned by doctors, it appeared that the mass had increased for five years.

A team of 114 doctors including three anesthesiologists, two surgical residents, several nurses and a surgeon operated on the woman for two hours to remove the tumor.
